Entrada Design, an architectural design group out of Breckenridge, Colorado, is renown for creating natural works of residential art. With design concepts that mix environment and life, Entrada employs elements and materials that compliment the environment. The end results are designs that are unique to not only the individual sites but the clients needs as well.
This featured project is in Breckenridge, Colorado and built by Jeremy Fischer of Ivan Stanley Fine Home Builders. The home sits on a solitary promontory that is both as rugged and beautiful as the structure itself. Entrada has once again succeeded in creating a home that blends with its surroundings and employs a creative mix of stone metal and woods. This project is currently a candidate for Mountain Living magazine's 2012 "Home of the Year" as well as "Kitchen of the Year." A great choice in both categories.
The exterior wood elements were provided by Vintage Woods and 12 Dime Design. Utilizing beetle kill pine and a proprietary finishing process, Vintage Woods creates versatile and striking building products. The beetle kill, which is overwhelmingly prevalent in the Breckenridge forests, has proven to be very difficult to manage. Vintage Woods has created a way to utilize this often wasted resource on a scale that can make a difference.
"Entrada Design recently completed an 8600 s.f. progressively distinctive custom home in Breckenridge, Colorado. With our focus on merging art and architecture, during the design process we turned to Dick Vossler at 12 Dime Design for unique siding options from its Vintage Woods Collection. We needed a more contemporary look for a refined mountain home which sits on a high vista overlooking the Highlands Golf Course in Breckenridge.
Utilizing the beetle kill timber so prevalent in our area was an opportunity to turn an environmental adversity of our region into a positive application on a remarkable structure. The unique aging methods used by Vintage Woods presented many options for us to create the more modern, weathered look that we wanted without the expense of the added waste and instability incurred with reclaimed material.
12 Dime Design was passionate about complementing our design notions and they have been an asset to our team as we worked through the project specifics resulting in an extraordinary finished product. " -Lori Kaczka, Partner at Entrada Design.
